Community over competition

It's a beautiful thing when artists support other artists. After a 10 minute pitch in April 2019, the judges made their comments and then opened up comments to the audience. Sitting in the front row was one of my favorite comic book artists who I have been following online for a little over a year. His comments that night were so inspiring and was such a beautiful example of what it means to put community over over competition. Instead of using the time to promote himself or his works, he continued to build our friendship and uplift me with his inspiring words. I was told to never get off of the stage to greet someone you know as it looks incredibly unprofessional. Well, I broke that rule - and you know what?
