Junior ARTrepreneurs draw in over a hundred supporters 

Santa Clarita - April 23, 2025 In a partnership with Heroes of Color and the Hart district’s Career and College Readiness program, school site administrators selected students they knew had a passion for art and offered them a placement in the Junior ARTrepreneurs program to explore their talent and teach them skills they would need to make it into a career. “They can learn that they can really have that gig economy, and they can have their own business, which is what’s so exciting for our students to have built those skills.”   said Carolyn Hoffman, director of the CCR program. Creative Collab: YMCA of San Diego & Heroes of Color

During Spring Break 2025, Heroes of Color proudly partnered with the YMCA of San Diego to deliver a dynamic series of creative workshops across three schools in two districts, reaching over 500 students in just two weeks. These hands-on projects blended STEM, culture, and engineering, allowing students to express themselves in powerful new ways. Participants created original, stretched canvas paintings enhanced with LED circuitry, while others designed custom cultural food trucks—complete with LED lighting and Bluetooth speakers that played music reflecting their heritage.

Santa Clarita 2024 Business of The Year!

Santa Clarita - January 31, 2025 - What an incredible way to kick off the New Year—being recognized for the impact we’re making in the Hart School District. Our Jr. ARTrepreneurs program has touched lives both in and out of schools, transforming family dynamics as many parents have shared the positive changes they've seen in their children. Receiving the Business of the Year award in the city where Heroes of Color was founded is a tremendous honor, and we are deeply grateful to our community for this recognition of our hard work and dedication.

San Diego - October 23, 2024 -  The San Diego Cause Conference honored the region's top Social Impact Champions across business, nonprofit, education, and government sectors. Los Angeles - March 28, 2024 - The Jr. ARTrepreneurs program empowers young artists with entrepreneurial skills and social-emotional learning tools. It teaches the business side of art, building students’ self-confidence, creativity, and financial literacy while exploring art careers. Through hands-on projects, students learn to market and value their work, gaining real-world skills for future success.

Animating for change 

Animating for Change is an enrichment program for 5th and 6th graders, where students create 60-second animated stories based on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. It empowers students to tackle issues like climate action and equality through art and advocacy, while building technical and creative skills. This program inspires the next generation to become advocates for a better world.

Entrepreneur Program boosts student attendance!

Santa Clarita — March 2024. ​​The Junior ARTrepreneurs program, a partnership between the Hart School District and Heroes of Color, teaches students how to turn their passion for art into a career. As Spectrum News shows reports, the program not only covers the business side of art but is also boosting student attendance.

National City elementary students to shine in animation film festival

National City, April 18, 2024 - The animation class is a six week long program for roughly 1,200 students in the National School District. Half of those, the sixth-graders, end their program with a grand festival. The animation program director David Heredia,  founder of the organization Heroes of Color,  said animation is teaching students how to tell stories and advocate through art. Full story

Together we can make an impact!

Heroes of Color is committed to offering purposeful enrichment programs that blend creativity with real-world skills, helping students express themselves and build career-readiness. We also aim to be a resource for schools looking to bring creative enrichment opportunities to their students. Schools can tap into Title I funding for programs that promote academic achievement in low-income areas, apply for grants through the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), or utilize Prop 28 funding in California for arts and music education.
