Every bus tells a story. What's yours? 

Art That Moves Us is a hands-on creative design experience currently reaching over 1000 students through our partnership with the YMCA in San Diego and Escondido. The project creates meaningful opportunities for student voice, expression, and purpose. Students design, cut, and assemble a 12-inch 3D cardstock bus, using color, symbols, and visual storytelling to share messages of kindness, hope, and connection. The completed buses form an uplifting installation that inspires community reflection.

The experience aligns naturally with Black History Month, MLK celebrations, and support for the farmworker movement, all of which honor courage and forward momentum. Younger students focus on kindness and empathy, while optional civic-engagement and design-based prompts are available for older students and community groups. Programs are offered through self-paced art kits for purchase or a guided, in-person workshop led by Heroes of Color teaching artists.​
